Cytology

Our Cytopathology Department offers cytology services in GYN and non-GYN cytology. We utilize the ThinPrep^® Pap test technology that provides a slide with an unobscured monolayer of cells, which improves the accuracy in interpretation of the cells. Additional testing can also be performed from the ThinPrep^® vial.

Histology

Our Histology Department offers services for processing and interpretation of your pathology tissue specimens. We strive to provide rapid turnaround times without compromising quality. State-of-the-art technologies utilized include microwave processing, image analysis, and adjunctive immunohistochemical studies.

Molecular

Molecular pathology is an emerging specialty within the field of anatomic and clinical pathology that uses DNA analysis and specialized molecular techniques for the accurate classification and diagnosis of malignancies and infectious diseases.

Our laboratory offers the most advanced PCR technology (real-time polymerase chain reaction assays) to quantitatively reproduce DNA sequences. It has greatly improved the quality of results in less time for diagnostic laboratories.

Molecular pathology in our laboratory currently encompasses the testing of sexually transmitted diseases from the female and male anogenital tract. The assays include high-risk HPV, Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, herpes simplex virus 1 and 2, and trichomonas. All of these are FDA-approved.

Our Reference Laboratories

At APA, we work with numerous National Reference Labs and try to accommodate our treating physicians to ensure the testing they want for their patients is available. We have a dedicated person who coordinates all of the send-outs as well as report delivery for us.
