  Molecular Pathology
Arkansas Pathology Associates offers Molecular Pathology testing for Herpes Simplex Virus I/II, Group B Strep, MRSA, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Human Papilloma Virus. All of our molecular testing is performed utilizing PCR (polymerase chain reaction), which gives the best sensitivity and specificity available. We may utilize the ThinPrep® vials for all the above testing except MRSA. M4 vials and genital swabs may also be used for HSV I/II, Group B Strep, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea. MRSA for PCR should be collected in a single Stuart's Medium Swab. See, Uriprobe, or GenProbe swabs may be used for collection from genital areas or random urine may be used. See Services on how to order these swabs or for any questions.

Human Papilloma Virus involves the amplification of highly conserved region of the genomes of all types of HPVs known to infect the respiratory or genital tract tissue. This method detects 20 high risk types of HPV, 15 types of low risk HPV, and 11 types of unclassified risk HPV. This technology utilizes Cytyc's ThinPrep® vial for Pap smears. See Services on how to order these supplies or for any questions.

These technologies place Arkansas Pathology Associates on the cutting edge of molecular pathology testing for these diseases.
